🎶  Get ready to breathe new life into a synth legend! The next Fantomacs release has been fully mastered with cutting-edge mastering tools adding the final finishing touches 🛠️✅. What to expect? A refreshed and fully reimagined cover of Jean-Michel Jarre’s iconic 1976 hit “Oxygène Pt. 4.”

While JMJ once orchestrated his masterpiece with a stack of analog synths and his beloved Korg Mini Pops, this modern revival was crafted entirely on the Roland Fantom EX workstation. Thanks to its internal models of classic analog gear and the powerful Zenology sound engine, the original soundscapes have been faithfully recreated — and then elevated with today’s sonic capabilities.

Expect lush textures, deep layers, and a richness in polyphony that goes beyond the analog limitations of the past. 🎧 Pro tip: Put on your headphones and dive in — you’ll hear (and feel) the difference.

Scheduled Release: 30th April, 2025

Bucket Pops is a software plugin for DAWs provided by www.fullbucket.de simulating the classig KORG Mini Pops-7 Rhythm Machine from 1966. This drum machine was the work horse for Jean-Michelle Jarre during composing his breakthrough album "Oxygène", released in 1976 followed by the album "Équinoxe", released in 1978. Here, this plugin was used during the production process for "Oxygène Pt. 4", and before for "SILO", "Icy Dreams" and "Mary".

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FANTOMACS Releases Modern Tribute to Jean-Michel Jarre’s Iconic Masterpiece “Oxygène Pt. 4”

– Out April 30, 2025

In a bold homage to one of electronic music’s most legendary compositions, Fantomacs announces the release of “Oxygène Pt. 4”, a richly reimagined cover of Jean-Michel Jarre’s groundbreaking 1976 track. Revered as a cornerstone of electronic music, the original "Oxygène Pt. 4" introduced generations to the expressive potential of synthesizers. Nearly five decades later, Fantomacs breathes new life into the classic, pushing sonic boundaries beyond the analog limitations of the past.

Crafted exclusively using the Roland Fantom EX synthesizer workstation, this new version envelops listeners in lush textures, deeply layered atmospheres, and a polyphonic richness that transcends the original’s vintage constraints. The result is not merely a cover, but a contemporary interpretation—respectfully grounded in the DNA of Jarre’s vision, yet elevated with modern production capabilities and immersive depth.

“In many ways, this release is both a tribute and a reinvention,” says Fantomacs. “The goal was to preserve the timeless spirit of Jarre’s work while using today’s tools to explore new sonic dimensions that weren’t accessible in 1976.”

Listeners can expect a hypnotic journey—filled with airy pads, pulsating sequences, and a sweeping spatial soundstage—that honors the original’s melodic core while offering a fresh auditory experience for a new generation.

“Oxygène Pt. 4” by Fantomacs is now available on all major streaming platforms and as a high-resolution download. A limited-edition CD release may follow later in 2025.
